Group 1: Clinical data will be collected retrospectively from the patient files and from the EEG program Profusion. This is exclusively data from examinations that the patient received for clinical re
(2) at least 1 hour after the last clinical seizure (excluding tonic-clonic seizures) or the last subclinical seizure
and (3) at least 1 hour before the next clinical seizure.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children and adolescents between the ages of 0 and 14 years with a diagnosis of epilepsy, who received video-EEG-monitoring from 1999 to 2018 at the Freiburg Epilepsy Center for clinical reasons. At least one seizure must have occurred during the monitoring. Furthermore, at least a 10-minute interictal period prior to the analyzed seizure must have been recorded in the examined patients in order to obtain a meaningful measurement of the basal heart rate.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria include age over 14 years, the occurrence of no or only subclinical seizures and a diagnosed independent cardiac disease.
