Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Primary diagnosis of social anxiety disorder (intervention/waitlist control groups only), Caucasian ancestry and German language proficiency.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for patients with social phobia are any comorbid bipolar or schizophrenic/psychotic disorders, autism, substance dependence (except nicotine), acute suicidality, severe neurological and/or somatic disease, illegal drug use, pregnancy, breast-feeding, impaired 3D vision, use of epigenetically active substances, general medical contraindications, or concomitant psychotherapy. The exclusion criteria for the healthy control group are the same as those described above. In addition, the presence of a current or lifetime mental disorder according to DSM-5 (SCID-5-CV; First et al., 2016), excessive alcohol (more than 14 glasses/week), cigarette (more than 20 cigarettes/day), and caffeine consumption (more than 4 cups/day), or use of psychoactive medications will lead to exclusion from the study.
