Problematic smartphone use

Interventions

Group 1: App-based acquisition of daily smartphone use behaviour over 6 weeks with accompanying assessment of the manifestation of problematic smartphone use behaviour.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Healthy test persons

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Psychiatric Axis I- disorder currently requiring treatment or requiring treatment during the last 12 months. Disorder (DSM-IV / ICD-10 using SKID I): Substance dependence (F1x.2) except nicotine (F17.2), schizophrenia, schizotypal and delusional disorder (F20 - F29), manic episode (F31.X); Deafness or blindness; Poor German language skills.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The extent of problematic smartphone use behaviour measured by two validated questionnaires, the Smartphone Addiction Scale - Short Version (SAS-SV, 10 questions) and the Smartphone Addiction Inventory (SPAI, 26 questions).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
- Quality of life (WHOQOL) - Depressiveness (BDI-II) - Mindfulness (FFA) - Daily smartphone use (number of app views, time spent in apps, cumulative in various app categories)
