Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: informed consent; no contraindications for 7T MR imaging (claustrophobia, ferromagnetic metal implants, weight <30 kg); no pregnancy; no breast feeding; no recent head/brain surgery before the participation in this study.

MeasureTime frame
1- Establishing internal water reference based oncometabolite quantification for 7T MRSI We can implement robust and fast quantitative water imaging at 7T to determine local tissue water concentrations. These can be used as an internal water reference in heterogeneous tumour tissue for the voxel-wise estimation of metabolic concentrations in MRSI instead of metabolic ratios. 2- Intraoperative precision sampling of tumour microenvironments We can translate our quantitative onco-metabolite maps into ROIs for sampling of different TMEs. These ROIs can be transferred to neurosurgical navigation systems for an accurate sample extraction. A new interdepartmental workflow can be established to preserve, manage and transfer the acquired samples for molecular pathology and mass spectrometry analysis. 3- Mass spectrometry as gold standard for 7T MRSI An analysis of the obtained samples with state-of the art electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) can compare invasive and non-invasive determination of onco-metabolites. This gold standard will allow to evaluate MRSI fidelity for the definition of metabolic profiles for TMEs.
