11 Years to 22 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Age between 11 and 22 years - Orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances - Existing gingivitis (according to full-mouth PBI = 60%). - No need for periodontal treatment - No serious general diseases (e.g. syndromal diseases, tumors, Diabetes mellitus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.) - No use of antibiotics within the last 3 months - No known allergies or intolerances to ingredients of the products to be tested products

Exclusion criteria: None other (see inclusion criteria).

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Papillary bleeding index (PBI) according to Saxer and Mühlemann and approximal plaque index (API) according to Lange et al. as full-mouth indices.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Saliva flow rate, pH value and buffer capacity raised with commercially available kit (CRT® buffer, Ivoclar, Schaan, Liechtenstein)
