Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • = 18 years • Photographically documented IAD, PU or wound fuselage-area • Inpatient or outpatient care at UK Essen or LMU Klinikum • Consenting patients • Non-competent patients with legal representative

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Refusal to participate • Non-competent patients refuse to participate. • IAD, PU or wound outside the fuselage-area • Poor photographic quality of wound documentation • More than 80% missing metadata documentation

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The aim is to develop the first AI system for digital image analysis of PU and IAD based on nursing research questions. Nursing professionals will be supported in the assessment and documentation of wound types, enabling personalised, evidence-based nursing interventions.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
•Definition of nursing-relevant variables in the area of differentiation between PU and IAD based on existing criteria from nursing and (inter)professional guidelines (in particular the expert standard on PU prophylaxis in nursing and the S3 guideline on the care of chronic wounds) as well as empirical knowledge and the demands of nursing professionals. •Development of evidence-based nursing workflows/interventions and guideline-compliant documentation requirements according to wound type and aetiology. •Survey of patient experience and nurses' perceptions of human-technology interaction. •Creation of a teaching archive of healed cases for nurses •Methodological development in the area of ExplainableAI
