Inclusion criteria: physically active, eumenorrheic cycle between 26 and 32 days, age between 18 and 32

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: irregular menstrual cycle, intake of hormonal contraceptiva

MeasureTime frame
The aim is to show differences in qualitative and contractile properties of the m.rectus femoris in three phases of the menstrual cycle. The early follicular phase, the ovulation phase and the mid-luteal phase are evaluated, which differ in their hormone concentrations. In the early follicular phase during menstruation, hormone concentrations of both estrogen and progesterone are low. In the ovulatory phase, lutenizing hormone is initially elevated and then estrogen levels reach their maximum. During the mid-luteal phase, the progesterone concentration increases to its maximum. To a lesser extent, estrogen levels also increase. These are inferred from muscle stiffness and contractility. Muscle stiffness is determined by shear wave ultrasound and myotonometry. Contractility is examined by tensiomyography.

MeasureTime frame
The aim is to compare force production capabilities in three different phases of the menstrual cycle. They are examined by means of an isoconetic force measurement on the dynamometer. Both the eccentric and concentric maximum force, as well as the maximum work load are determined.
