Interventions

Group 1: Single-arm interventional trial: The intervention consists of an acute aerobic exercise bout over 45 minutes at a moderate intensity (60% maximal performance capacity).

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age: 20-35 years German speaking (fluent) BMI < 30

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Chronic previous disease - Regular medication use at the time of study participation or in the preceding 6 months - Pregnancy or breastfeeding - Use of oral contraception - Drug use in the past 6 months - Acute infection or orthopedic injury - Intake of nutritional supplements - Smoking:in - > 300 minutes of endurance training per week (within the last 6 months) - > 3 strength training sessions per week (within the past 6 months)

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary endpoint is the serum concentration of kynurenic acid

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary endpoints include serum concentrations of all other tryptophan metabolites, humoral and cellular markers of inflammation, expression of enzymes along the KP in circulating immune cells, and subjective well-being
