Group 1: Hospitalized cases of acute myocardial infarction:
Identification of hospitalized cases of acute myocardial infarction in all hospitals of the study region
contacting of the patients (information, declaration of consent, interview on the event)
elaboration of the patients’ medical files.
Coronary deaths:
Identification of suspected fatal cases of acute myocardial infarction by inspecting the death certificates received from the three region
postal dispatch of special questionnaires to practitioners who last treated the patients and/or to doctor testifying the death of the patient
in the myocardial infarction registry: merging of the death certificates and the doctor's questionnaires and final case selection.

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Diagnosis of a myocardial infarction event (ICD10: I21) or of a layered ischaemia of the myocardium (ICD10: I25) OR death suspected of being due to coronary heart desease Patient age: 25 years and older Main residence in the study region
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Main residence outside of the study region.
