Group 1: Patients, age 65 and above, undergoing elective surgery will be screened prior to the operation, at the day of the operation and on the following three days after the operation with different

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients, age 65 years and above undergoing elective, non-cardiac surgery with a stay of at least 4 days in hospital

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: planned ICU stay, patient with inadequate command of the german language, patient with legal guardian.

length of stay in hospital (w/o delirium), Type of anesthesia and the incidence of a delirium, relation male/female regarding the incidence of a perioperative delirium. Evaluation of the patients´ well-being 30 days after surgery.	—
