Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Minimally invasive thoracic surgical procedures: - Planned lobectomy - Planned atypical lung resection

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Addictive or other medical conditions that do not allow the subject to understand the nature and scope and possible consequences of the study - Indications that the patient is unlikely to comply with the study protocol - Participation in other clinical trials that could have an impact on the results of this study - emergency interventions

Primary outcome measures Bedside spirometry (handheld spirometer, daily): - Vital capacity (VC) - Forced vital capacity (FVC) - Forced expiratory volume after 1 second (FEV1) - Peak expiratory flow (PEF) - Parameters derived or calculated from these values. The above parameters are compared with patient data routinely obtained from the medical record during the inpatient stay. This includes type and extent of surgery, pre-disease profile, laboratory parameters, and pre- and postoperative radiological and clinical findings.
