18 Years to 120 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age > 18 years 2. Able to give informed consent 3. Patients diagnosed with acute appendicitis 4. Patients undergoing an appendectomy 5. Written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Missing intraoperative or histological proof of acute appendicitis 2. Appendectomy within an other surgical procedure

Bacterial spectrum of patients with acute appendicitis in the appendix or rectal smear

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Correlation of the bacterial spectrum with duration of surgery, conversion rate, postoperative complications, length of hospital stay, and response to calculated antibiotic therapy
