Inclusion criteria: Informed consent Diagnosis of sickle cell disease and therapy with hydroxycarbamide

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Absence of informed consent

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Hydroxycarbamide therapy leads to a decrease in the frequency of pain crises (defined as pain in different localizations requiring the use of analgesics) and a decrease in days with pain per year (measured with an age-adjusted pain scale) in CAYAs.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
2.1 Under hydroxycarbamide therapy, CAYAs show an increase in HbF level and MCV. 2.2 Under hydroxycarbamide therapy, known hemolysis parameters decrease in CAYAs.
