Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients are included in the study who are treated as inpatients in the stroke center (stroke unit) or in the general ward of the neurology department of the Westpfalz-Klinikum Kaiserslautern due to a stroke or their epilepsy during the period of the study. Study participants are at least 18 years old. Both dentate and edentulous patients will be studied.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with an increased risk of endocarditis are excluded. Patients whose capacity to consent is impaired are also excluded.

MeasureTime frame
Severity of stroke determined by NHISS. Severity of epilepsy determined by seizure frequency in the last 12 months before assessment and number of antiepileptic drugs prescribed.
