Group 1: Patients who undergo esophagectomy will have blood samples analyzed in regard to their levels of pen-Kid, DPP3 and bio-ADM as well es standardized laboratory parameters preoperatively as well

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients who undergo an esophagectomy with reconstruction of continuity
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - Prgenancy - Minors - inability to consent - patients who are incarcerated or are institutionalized involuntarily by law or authorities

| Evaluation if there is a difference between the postoperative course of the biomarkers DPP3, penKid and bio-ADM and conventional blood testing in regard to onset of changes in the setting of complications as well as a correlation to the extend of complications. | — |
