Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Hip-THA patients: age 50 years and older, planned unilateral primary hip-TEP, indication of hip-TEP: coxarthrosis Control subjects: Age 50 years and older, same age and sex distribution, and same BMI and activity status as hip TEP patients
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Hip-TEP patients: Indication for hip TEP: femoral head necrosis, tumour; hip joint on the contralateral side also requiring surgery, pre-existing hip TEP or knee TEP, neurological diseases. Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The subjects come to three different measurement appointments (pre-op, 6 and 12 months post-op). Biomechanical examinations (lower extremity strength, balance and gait), clinical function tests (Timed-Up and Go Test, Five Times Sit-to-Stand Test) and scores of different PROMS (Oxford Hip Score, HOOS, WOMAC, EQ-5D) are performed. It will be investigated how the individual parameters behave in the postoperative course and to what extent there are correlative relationships between biomechanical parameters and the scores of the PROMs and the clinical function tests. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To assess the results for the THA patients, adequate examinations will be performed with a control group of non-THA patients of the same age and gender distribution and the same BMI and activity status without diagnosed functional movement impairment. | — |
