55 Years to 75 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Patients requiring unilateral hip or knee arthroplasty due to primary or secondary osteoarthritis (2) BMI 19-34 kg/m² (3) ASA score I/II (4) Willingness and ability to participate in the outpatient therapy and the required follow-up examinations during the first postoperative year

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Cachexia or obesity that affects the patient's daily life (BMI 34 kg/m²). (2) ASA score > II, (3) Active or suspected Infection (4) Severe heart failure and COPD (1) Acute spinal disease (e.g., lumboischialgia, disc prolapse, spinal stenosis). (2) Prior endoprostheses at the lower extremity (3) Joint, muscular or systemic diseases affecting gait pattern (4) Neurological diseases affecting cognition (5) Insufficient knowledge of the German language

Preoperative as well as 3, 6, 9 and 12 month following arthroplasty, clinical-functional parameters are recorded: (1) Gait parameters (2) Range of Motion (hip/knee joint) (3) Proprioception (4) Neuromuscular function of the lower extremities (5) Postural Control (6) Daily physical activity (7) Functional mobility
