Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Intraoperative pathology electively operated via a pterional or temporal approach

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Preoperative: (1) previous surgery througha pterional or temporal approach from the other side (2) preoperative hemiparesis on the operated side (3) disease influencing the masticatory function (4) completely teethless patients or patients with removable denture (5) dementia, coma Postoperative: (1) neurological deficit impairing mastication 3 months after surgery (facial paresis > H&B III° Facialisparese, lower cranial nerve palsy, hemiparesis) (2) impaired smelling function after 3 months (3) new disease imparing masticatory function (e.g. abscess, fracture, hemiparesis) (4) recurrent neurosurgical intervention ipsi- or contraleratal (tempora/pterional)
