Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: - Age >18 years - Intensive medical therapy with invasive mechanical ventilation of any indication - Hypercapnia (pCO²=45mmHg) - PEEP =8mbar
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - Pneumothorax - Fractures, Zn. traumas and injuries - Any type of internal drainage (especially thoracic and abdominal drains) - extracorporal lung replacement procedure - Intra-abdominal infection - Relevant wounds on the thorax or abdomen - Intra-abdominal, thoracic, gastrointestinal and/or intracerebral bleeding - Hemophilia/severe thrombocytopenia ( 8 and Quick < 50) - Severe circulatory instability - Pregnancy
