Group 1: On the day of the reconnaissance, the blood sampling with CRP, leukocytes, PCT, lactate and calprotectin. The next blood samples (CRP, leukocytes, PCT, lactate and Calprotectin) are performed

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Potential study participants are all patients who undergo a colon / rectum resection at the Agatharied GmbH hospital, who are> 18 years of age and who have a written declaration of consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients under <18 years of age, patients with inflammatory bowel disease, emergency patients, and patients who do not consent to the study. Since calprotectin is also increased in other chronic infections and autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, patients with chronic inflammation are also excluded.

How does the calprotectin level in the serum behave pre- and post-operatively after a colon / rectum resection?

Is there a change in the postoperative calprotectin serum level similar to that of leukocytes, PCT, lactate and CRP? Is there an increase in the calprotectin level with the onset of clinical symptoms, e.g. fever, pain, discharge of pus in postoperative infections, abscesses or anastomotic leakage? Does the calprotectin level change pre- and postoperatively due to the presence or removal of neoplasms compared to bowel resections without neoplasms?
