| Despite evidence-based indications, the presence of PTSD and its influencing factors in ACHD have not been studied in depth. In light of previous discussions, the following objectives were formulated for the convened study: (I) To investigate the prevalence and severity of PTSD in ACHD using a representative collective looking at the full spectrum of CHD; (II) Identification of peri- and posttraumatic risk factors in the development of PTSD in ACHD; (III) identification of peri- and posttraumatic protective factors for PTSD in ACHD. Analogously, the objectives break down into the following questions: I. Disorder-specific and broad-spectrum diagnosis of PTSD in ACHD: - What is the overall mental health status? - What is the quality of life? - What is the prevalence of anxiety and depression? - What is the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? II. Identify peri-/post-traumatic risk factors for the development of PTSD in ACHD: - How does the prevalence of PTSD differ with respect to different social demographic parameters? o Age o gender o socioeconomic status - How does the prevalence of PTSD differ in relation to different medical/cardiac parameters? CHD diagnosis and severity. o functional class o drug treatments performed o interventional and/or surgical treatments performed o residual and secondary conditions of CHD o cardiac and non-cardiac comorbidities. - What influence do interventional factors have on the development of PTSD in ACHD? o surgical procedure o timing of surgery o Length of hospital stay o Frequency of surgical / interventional procedures o Postoperative / postinterventional interval o Doctor-patient communication III. Identification of peri- /posttraumatic protective factors for prevention and therapy in PTSD: - What is the expression regarding positive-psychological protective factors towards mental illness/PTSD in ACHD? o psychological resilience (so-called resilience) o sense of coherence o subjectively perceived social support | — |
