Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Age = 65 years 2. Written informed consent prior to study participation according to the national law requirements 3. All consecutive patients undergoing elective cardiac on-pump surgery 4. Fluent in German 5. Planned extubation within 24 hours after surgery 6. Only legally competent patients
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients undergoing emergency cardiac surgery 2. Patients with documented severe psychiatric disorders 3. People who are institutionalized by court or administrative order 4. Expected incompliance to the study protocol 5. Expected continuous mandatory ventilation after surgery 6. Non-fluency in German language
