Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: chronic aphasia (time poststroke: at least 1 year), after a first-ever left-hemisphere stroke, non-fluent aphasia (global aphasia or Broca’s aphasia) according to the ALLOC classification procedure (Habbema, Hermans & van den Broeck, 1974), premorbidly right-handed as determined by means of the Edinburgh Handedness Inventory (Oldfield, 1971), native language: German, sufficient auditory comprehension to understand the instructions, consent to participating in 32 single therapy sessions over a period of four months after random allocation to either of the two groups, consent to participating in language tests (AAT) before and after therapy, consent to refraining from any other language or cognitive training during participation in the study
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: bilateral lesion, perceptual hearing impairments, premorbid history of neurological or psychiatric problems relevant to language communication
