Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - for the Bahai-group: member of the bahai congregation, planning to fast - age 18-69 years -periodontal healthy - number of teeth: > =24 - no dental treatment required

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: -for the Bahai group: no complete fasting is intended - pregnancy, lactation, severe systemic diseases, eating disorders or other type of practiced diet-restriction, psychatric diseases - participation in another study - antibiotic treatment 5cigarettes/day -no complete fasting or not following oral hygiene study protocol - probing depth > 3mm, gingival bleeding index > 15%
