Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: age 18-75 years western-diet (daily consumption of sugar) planned periodontal therapy diagnosis: generalized periodontitis, grade A-B, stage I-III, BOP >30%, last subgingival debridement >2 years ago, smoking < 5 cigarettes/day, BMI 18-30, mild systemic disease without known effects on periodontal inflammation

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: periodontitis stage IV, grade C, diabetes (treated with medication), treatment with anticoagulant, antibiotics in last 3 months, cortisol, pregnancy, lactation, severe systemic diseases, eating disorder, severe psychological disorders, participating in another study, orthodontic treatment/appliance, xerostomia, smoking >5 cigarettes/day, ongoing dental treatment other than periodontal intervention)
