Group 1: Retrospective data review and analysis of staging examinations (CT/MRI) + prospective sonography

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with suspected malignancy in the ENT area with locoregional lymph node metastasis (UICC stages III-IV) who are treated as inpatients in the ENT Clinic of the University Hospital for diagnostic or therapeutic measures due to the tumour disease.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: All patients in whom a benign lesion in the head and neck region is suspected or in whom a malignancy in the ENT region has been ruled out. Furthermore, minors and patients who are not capable of giving consent are excluded. Pregnancy and the desire to become pregnant are obligatory exclusion criteria. Patients are also excluded if they have severe additional illnesses that interfere with an ultrasound examination of the head and neck region or if the examination is intolerable for the patient.
