Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Symptomatic cartilage defect of the knee (size 2.5-6 cm), Focal defect grade 3 or 4 according to the International Cartilage Repair Society (ICRS)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Systemic disease (Rheumatic disease, Diabetes etc.), Previous surgeries at the cartilage, menisci or ligaments of the knee, History of fractures or osteotomies of the lower extremities

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS; questionnaire) after 24 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
KOOS after 6 and 12 months, IKDC-Score after 6, 12 and 24 months, Tegner activity score after 6, 12 and 24 months, quantitative and qualitative MRI evaluation (MOCART-Score) after 12 months
