Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Diagnosis of depression according to ICD-10 (F31.3 – F34) 2. Minimum length of stay of three days before enrollment in the study 3. informed consent of patient 4. MMSE < 19 points and the ability to explain the content of the study in the patients own words* 5. Prescription for exercise therapy (this includes cardiovascular resilience)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Clinical exclusion of delirium (based on CAM ) 2. combined diagnosis of depression and an alcohol-induced neurodegenerative disease 3. acute and/or severe cardiac disorder, neurological disease, and/or chronic orthopedic disorder 4. Mini Mental Status Examination = 19 points

MeasureTime frame
Change in depressive symptoms at T0 and T1 (two weeks post intervention) with clinical global impression (CGI) scale by the attending physician.
