Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: App intervention (Step 1): Compulsive Internet Use Scale (CIUS) >20 points. Brief telephone intervention (Step 2): lack of success (i.e., CIUS still >20) in Step 1 and/or 3 criteria sensu DSM-5 or 1 criterion sensu ICD-11. Online therapy: lack of success in Step 2 (i.e., CIUS >20 and 3 criteria sensu DSM-5 or 1 criterion sensu ICD-11) and additional severity of the disorder requiring clinical treatment (>4 criteria sensu DSM-5 or 3 criteria sensu ICD-11).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Utilization of psychotherapy in the last 4 weeks (according to self-report) and no sufficient knowledge of the German language.
