Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Overweight or Obesity, measured as BMI: >/=25 OR abdominal circumference > 80 cm for women or >94 cm for men 2. The cooperation of the family cook

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Receiving long-term oral corticosteroids or weight loss medication; 2. Health conditions that interfere with adherence; 3. Current pregnancy.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
reduction in fasting plasma glucose (FPG) (difference between baseline and after 6 months, measured as FPD in blood serum)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Improvements in biomarkers of glucose metabolism based on OGTT and HbA1c; 2. Reductions in systolic and diastolic blood pressure; 3. Improvements in fasting blood lipids; 4. Changes in dietary behavior according to repeated 24 hour dietary recall protocols (24HDR); 5. Changes in food-related greenhouse gas emissions (estimated according to emission factors and results from the 24HDRs).
