Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: General healthy adults (age = 18 years).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. diseases of the brain or mind (including anxiety disorders, depression, schizophrenia, drug or medication addiction, neurological diseases). 2. chronic diseases of the skin 3. chronic pain diseases It does not matter whether the condition is treated or untreated, was long term or short term, or dates back a long time. 4. open injuries inflammations, infections or eczema of the arm 5. pregnancy or breastfeeding 6. current medication/participation in drug trials 7. Use of illegal intoxicants within 4 weeks prior to the start of the examination. 8. other serious health problems or current severe mental or physical stress.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The aim of the present study will be to investigate in a controlled clinical trial the extent to which placebo effects in self-treatment and external treatment of pain affect EEG and behavioral ratings.

Secondary

The secondary aim of the present study is to investigate how pain from heat stimuli affects electrophysiological signals.
