Conditions

Basic science study investigating stress effects on behavioral and neural correlates of memory processes with potential implications for stress-associated disorders such as PTSD and depression.

Interventions

Group 1: 1st experimental group: stress + brain stimulation (TMS
iTBS, 3min). Group 2: 2nd experimental group: stress + sham brain stimulation (Sham-TMS
iTBS, 3min). Group 3: 3rd experimental group: control procedure + brain stimulation (TMS
iTBS, 3min). Group 4: Control group: control procedure + sham brain stimulation (Sham-TMS
iTBS, 3min).

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - very good knowledge of German -Right-handed

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: -study psychology, -smoking, -pregnancy -using hormonal contraceptives (e.g. -pill, ring, patch, etc.), -wearing metal on/in the body (e.g. stents, -copper coil, piercings that cannot be removed). -acute diseases -taking medications, -have history of neurological or mental disorders. - grid or baldness (EEG not possible)

MeasureTime frame
Investigation of the influence of a psychosocial stressor and the application of a unit of transcranial magnetic stimulation or sham stimulation before memory reactivation on memory performance and the brain processes involved. Memory performance is assessed on the second day of the examination, after the application of TMS and the stressor, by means of a computer-based test. In this test, old words (learned on day 1) and new words are presented. The subjects must first indicate whether the word shown is old or new, and then indicate which picture belonged to this word.
