Basic science study focusing on the neural basis of memory integration with regard to clinical pictures, such as post-traumatic stress disorder. To investigate the neural basis of memory integration, the experimental group receiving transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) over the left angular gyrus will be compared with the control group receiving sham stimulation in EEG and different measures of memory integration. No ICD-10 coded diagnosis is examined in this study.

Inclusion criteria: - right-handed person - no psychotherapeutic or neurological previous illnesses

Exclusion criteria: - Study of psychology - Left-handed - Pregnancy - Hearing impairment - implants (e.g. cochlea) in the head area - no hair or dreadlocks - regular drug use - more than 5 cigarettes per week - neurological surgery - epilepsy or one-time seizure - head trauma - prescription medication - psychotherapeutic, psychiatric or neurological treatment

| Investigation of the effect of inhibition of the left angular gyrus on memory integration using a computer-based task with video clips (from the computer game Sims3). The video clips are first shown in a disjointed, sequential manner (approximately 50 min) and then two videos at a time are linked together to form a story by either another video or the instruction to imagine a scene (approximately 30 min). Before linking the videos, half of the participants are stimulated with TMS and the other half with control stimulation (approx. 15 min). After linking the videos, the videos are again shown sequentially (approximately 50 min). Both before linking the videos and after linking the videos, participants are asked to judge the relatedness of the videos. Throughout this task, both an EEG and eye movements are recorded. Last, participants undergo some memory tasks (a free recall for 20 min, a sorting task of the videos, and a supported recall for about 3 min) to check the memory integration of the linked videos. | — |
