Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: One of the following prehospital airway protection measures has been administered: endotracheal intubation, supraglottic airway device, bag-mask-ventilation, cricothyrotomy Patient was transported to the hospital after administering airway protection measures The emergency physician/paramedic administering airway protection measures is a part of a rescue unit of the Rettungszweckverband Südwestsachsen (Emergency Services Association of Southwest Saxony)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient was not transported to the hospital after administering airway protection measures (death of the patient on scene)

Aim of this study: providing a review of current trends in airway protection in the Rettungszweckverband Südwestsachsen and answering the following questions: - How often and in which manner is prehospital airway protection being trained? - What significance does the use of a video laryngoscope have in prehospital airway protection? - What significance do muscle relaxants have when being confronted with a prehospital cannot ventilate – cannot intubate situation in a patient/when having difficulties with mask ventilation in a patient? - What significance do supraglottic airway devices have for prehospital airway protection? - What are common characteristics of airway protection in the Emergency Services Association of Southwest Saxony.

MeasureTime frame
Collection of data: interviews by phone (questionnaire prepared in advance) with emergency physicians and EMS personnel after administering prehospital airway protection measures. Topics: - Personal medical background and experience - Airway protection measures in an EMS call If one person has to administer airway protection measures in a prehospital setting more than once during the period of observation, that person will be interviewed after every eligible EMS call.
