Interventions

Group 1: Prospective observational study- cardiac surgery patients 50 years of age and older are screened for delirium and followed up postoperatively.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Elective cardiac surgery - Sufficient knowledge of the German language - Written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Inadequate knowledge of the German language, aphasia, and other inability to complete the self-report questionnaires or understand the clarification about the study - Lack of consent to participate or unwillingness to cooperate (compliance) - Age < 50 years - Known dementia syndrome with lack of capacity to consent
