Interventions

Group 1: Anorexia Nervosa Group (AN): points of measurements: admission (t1), reaching 10th BMI age percentile (t2), discharge (t3), follow-up after six months (t4)
clinically depressed control group (CG1): points of measurements: admission (t1), discharge (t3), follow-up after six months (t4)
healthy control group: four months between t1 and t3, then t4 after another six months. Data collection at t1, t3, t4: psychopathological report (only t1)
questionnaires for adolescents: EDI-2, BIAQ, BCQ, SATAQ, BDI (only t1 & t4), PHOKI (only t1 & t4), ETI-KJ (only t1 & t4), PSS-10
questionnaires for parents: CBCL (only t1 & t4), FAPAN, BSI (only t1 & t4), EBI
movement profile via ankle sensors
blood sample
saliva samples. Data collection t2: questionnaires for adolescents: EDI-2, BIAQ, BCQ, SATAQ
blood sample.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Anorexia Nervosa (AN) group: AN diagnosis according to ICD-10 criteria (F50.0 or F50.1), weight 10th age percentile.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Acute psychotic symptoms; substance abuse / addiction; chronic physiological conditions (especially cardiovascular diseases); medication with tranquillizing effects (such as Benzodiazepines); learning disabilities; insufficient German skills to give informed consent. For the control groups: eating disorders.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Reaching a weight of BMI = 25th age percentile at discharge, keeping up the weight until a follow-up six months later.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Eating disorder pathology, body dissatisfaction, movement patterns, heart rate and heart rate variability, biomarkers (leptin, ghrelin, NPY, PYY, IL-6, hsCRP, cortisol, alpha-amylase)
