Interventions

Group 1: Patients with treatment-resistant depression will be interviewed regarding their depressive symptoms and asked to perform speech oriented and motoric tasks one to five times during one year.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients: - Chronic or recurrent treatment-resistant depression, pre-diagnosed and documented (uni- or bipolar, currently depressed) - Capable to give written informed consent Healthy controls: - Capable to give written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients: - non-affective psychotic disorder, currently or in the past - Present or unstable substance abuse (except nicotine) Healthy controls: - Current psychotherapy or psychiatric treatment - Current psychiatric disorder - Past psychotic disorder - Substance abuse (except nicotine) - Substantial somatic illness

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Prosody parameters of speech (speech rate, intonation, loudness, duration of silence) and psychomotor performance (tapping accuracy, tapping velocity, precision, sliding velocity) will be assessed up to five times automatically. To this aim two different types of tasks have to be performed on a tablet pc.
