Group 1: Placebo (0,9% NaCl), 1 ml i.v. (intravenous) 60 sec. prior to administering medications for induction to general anesthesia Group 2: Dormicum (midazolam), 0,03 mg/kg body weight i.v. 60 sec.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: This study will include patients, aged 18-65 years, ASA II and III status according to the classification of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy in the period 8:30-11:00 AM

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria are: patients with diabetes mellitus, patients on chronic benzodiazepine therapy, patients with chronic cardiac arrhythmias and patients who develop cardiac arrhythmia during procedure, patients with first measured arterial pressure higher than 180/105 mm Hg or lower than 100/60 mm Hg, conversion from laparoscopic to laparotomy procedure will exclude patients from study

MeasureTime frame
To determine efects of midazolam coinduction to general anesthesia on mean arterial blood pressure and heart rate values (measured on anesthesia monitor by noninvasive methods). To determine effects of midazolam coinduction to general anesthesia on differences in blood glucose concentration during and after surgery. To determine effect of midazolam coinduction to general anesthesia on differences in blood cortisol concentration after surgery (Analysis of blood samples performed at Laboratory department of Sveucilišna klinicka bolnica Mostar).
