Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Patients with liver cirrhosis and indication for TIPS placement - Age = 18 years and < 85 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Non-cirrhotic indications for TIPS placement Non-cirrhotic portal vein thrombosis Budd-Chiari Syndrome Nodular regenerative hyperplasia - Age < 18 years and = 85 years - Inability of the patient to consent - Frustrated TIPS system - Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)

MeasureTime frame
Change in sarcopenia in patients with advanced liver cirrhosis 12 months after TIPS placement

MeasureTime frame
- Change in sarcopenia in patients with advanced liver cirrhosis 6 months after TIPS placement - To determine the prevalence of osteoporosis in patients with advanced liver cirrhosis presenting for the TIPS facility - Change in osteoporosis in patients with advanced liver cirrhosis and initial diagnosis of osteoporosis at the time of TIPS placement 12 months after TIPS placement
