Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients treated operatively at the department of trauma of the university hospital rechts der Isar (technical university Munich): Fibula fracture with and without syndesmotic injury, fracture of the malleolus medialis, bi- and trimalleolar ankle fracture.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients under the age of 18 years, pathological ankle fractures, implant removal due to an infect, prisoners, pregnant women, patients with a legal guardian.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Ratio of correct partial weight-bearing of the operated limb (number of steps with proper partial weight-bearing/number of all steps) during the first 6 postoperative weeks.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Foot and Ankle Outcome Score (FAOS), Short Form 36 (SF36), Munich Ankle Questionnaire, Karlsson-Peterson score, Olerud and Molander score. Patient satisfaction (Likert-scale).
