Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Smoker (>10 cigarettes a day), Non-Smoker, right-handed, fluent in the german language

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Inclusion Criteria are not fulfilled, Exclusion criteria for MRI research are positive, mental illness according to SKID 5, taking any form of illegal substances

*Confirmatory* Difference in stop-signal reaction time before and after stimulation. Influence of HD-tDCS application, nicotine and trait impulsivity (BIS11).

*Exploratory* Difference of resting-state functional connectivity before-, during- and after HD-tDCS application between groups and in consideration of a potential improvement in response inhibition. Influence of grey-matter volume of the inferior frontal gyrus on the effectivity of HD-tDCS on response inhibtion. Simulation of the electric field that is induced by the HD-tDCS application (Using a T1 and a T2 weighted MRI measurement, the electric field that is created can be individually modelled for every participant.) CO2 measurement of smokers. SSRT: Reaction time, percent of correctly inhibited trials, percentage of errors (clicking the wrong button) Different Questionnaires (UPPS, SKID, PANAS, Audit, RPQ, AQ, SPSRQ) Neuropsychological tests (WST, TMT-A, TMT-B, digit span forward and backward)
