Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: - mild depressive episode (ICD-10: F32.0), - moderate depressive episode (ICD-10: F32.1) - severe depressive episode (ICD-10: F32.2) - recurrent depressive disorder, current episode mild (ICD-10: F33.0) - recurrent depressive disorder, current episode moderate (ICD-10: F33.1) - recurrent depressive disorder, current episode severe (ICD-10: F33.2) Ages: 13-18 years; IQ = 85, CDRS-R = 36; BDI-II = 14

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Acute Psychosis, drug abuse, acute suicidality, suicide attempts within the last 12 months, bipolar affective disorders, severe obsessive-compulsive disorder, severe anxiety disorder, severe eating disorder, autism spectrum disorder, severe conduct disorder, school absenteeism. Participation in another study. Medication needs to be stable for at least 3 weeks. In the case of outpatient psychotherapy, changes for the course of the program are not possible. The participants need to be able to take part in a group therapy format and be away from their parents for the week of intensified surf therapy, despite their depression. They need to be able to swim (swim certificate "Bronze").

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Children's Depression Rating Scale - Revised (CDRS-R). Before the group therapy, after completing the group therapy program and 3 months after completion.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Changes in depressive symptoms (BDI-II), emotion regulation (FEEL-KJ) and self-worth (SEKJ).
