Group 1: It is planned to enroll 30 volunteer test persons in the stage of mild dementia of the Alzheimer's type or patients with the syndrome of mild cognitive impairment (“mild cognitive impairment”

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Women and men (> 65 years) with mild AD (MMST = 20) - Women and men (> 65 years) with MCI and a pathological CSF profile (Aß1-42 decreased, tau protein increased) - Women and men (> 65 years) as healthy control subjects (MMST> 27) - Obtained consent and information ability - Willingness to take swabs of the oral mucosa and gums

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Acute infections of the upper respiratory tract - Known acute inflammations in the oral cavity (e.g. stomatitis) - Serious physical illnesses with impairment of the general condition, fever or current weight loss of more than 2 kg in the past four weeks, palliative life situation - Malnutrition (body mass index below 18.5 kg / m2) - Other neurological diseases (stroke, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease) or severe psychiatric comorbidities such as an addiction disorder or schizophrenic psychosis - Potentially reversible causes of cognitive deficits (e.g. vitamin B12 deficiency)

MeasureTime frame
Provide pathophysiological information on the genesis of the disease. Clinically, this could result in a diagnostic approach to early diagnosis, but it could also lay the foundation for therapeutic alternatives.
