Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with retinal detachment who require a pars plana vitrectomy with gas endotamponate or a scleral buckling surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: -reduced general condition of health, inability to sit through examination -severe chronic diseases and/or psychic conditions that will severely reduce cooperative participation -severe optic opacities reducing retinal examinability -prisoners, institutionalized patients

Anatomical outcome (optical coherence tomography), visual acuity

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Evaluation of the retinal thickness with a follow-up period of 12 months using imaging techniques, e.g. OCT measurements of the macula and functional examinations
