Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria of schizophrenia patients with current paranoia: - Informed consent of the patient (given the ability to judge and consent) - Meets the ICD-10 criteria for either schizophrenia (F20), delusional disorder (F22), or psychotic disorder (F23) - Mother tongue German / Swiss German. Inclusion criteria phobic patients: - Informed consent of the patients - Spider phobia (using Fear of Spider Questionnaire) - Mother tongue German / Swiss German. Inclusion criteria control subjects: - Informed consent - Mother tongue German / Swiss German.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria of schizophrenia patients with current paranoia: - Solicitous placement - Other psychiatric or neurological disorders other than F20, F22 or F23 - Current non-prescribed psychoactive drugs - Drug abuse - Sensory impairments - Inability to consent - Magnetic objects such as implants, pacemakers or pumps in or on the body - Claustrophobia - Pregnancy (urinal pregnancy test will be conducted with every female participant). Exclusion criteria control subjects / Spider phobia: - History of psychiatric or neurological disorders - Current psychoactive drugs - Drug abuse - Sensory impairments - Inability to consent - Staff and students of the project leader and other persons involved in the project - Magnetic objects such as implants, pacemakers or pumps in or on the body - Claustrophobia - Pregnancy (urinal pregnancy test will be conducted with every female participant).

| The group-specific functional and structural connectivity of the brain regions involved in anxiety and fear. Functional connectivity is generally measured by a voxel-wise correlation of the temporal BOLD signal recorded during awake rest. Structural connectivity uses the data obtained from a diffusion tensor imaging sequence. Furthermore, deterministic fibre tracking will be performed to investigate white matter ultrastructure in specific fiber tracts of interest. Lastly, the relationship of the hemodynamic responses with psychological (anxiety questionnaires) measures is analysed. | — |
