Inclusion criteria: Written consent, elective arthroscopic shoulder surgery, ASA I-III

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Age over 60 years - ASA>III - Pregnancy or breastfeeding women - Emergency patients - Estimated postoperative intensive stay - Known paresis of The N. phrenicus and the N. recurrens - Infections in the area of the puncture area - Pre- surgery on the ipsilateral neck side - CNS diseases or pre-known nerve lesions on the shoulder to be operated on - Known coagulopathy - allergies to local anesthetics of the amide type - Disposition for malignant hyperthermia - Very strong disposition for PONV - Patients without German language skills

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Spirometric Parameters FVC, FEV1 and PEF (percentage changes pre-to postopertively recorded values) and pulse oximetry in the PACU at the time t0 h (as soon as the patient was alert and cooperative, Aldrete Score >12), t1 h (60 min), t2 h (120 min) and t24 h. In addition, the diaphragm excursion is sonographically evaluated at the time t0 h, t1 h, t2 h and t24 h to verify the phrenic nerve paralysis.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Analgesia based on NRS Score (numerical rating scale) at the time t0 h, t1 h, t2 h and t24 h. 2. Duration of blockage until the first request for pain medication. 3. Opiate consumption in morphine equivalents up to t24 h.
