Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Transcriptom (RNA seq; single-cell seq) and epigenomanalyses (EPIC Array; ATAC seq) in isolated papillae fungiformes in obesity in contrast to normal weight for the identification of differential gene/protein-regulation; association analyses with factors of eating behavior (German version of the three factor eating questionnaire), with taste preferences (food preference questionnaire), with life style factors (diverse questionnaires), with data from taste screenings (taste strips) and with anthropometric and metabolic parameters from blood and saliva samples (f.e. cholestrol, blood sugar level, hormones/cytokines etc.)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
functional studies using primary cell culture (isolated human cells from papillae fungiformes; analyses: f.e. Ca2+ imaging, in vitro knock down, stimulation of cell cultures with f.e. glucose etc.); Tongue- and saliva microbiome analyses; analysis of extracellular vesicles from saliva
