Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals which have been diagnosed to suffer from mild cognitive impairments (MCI).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • other neurological diseases (e.g. epilepsy, multiple sclerosis); • cardiac disease (e.g. heart failure, pacemaker, heart valve defects); • psychiatric diseases (e.g. schizophrenia, manifest depression); • orthopaedic diseases (e.g. fractures in the last 6 months, symptomatic herniated disc); • muscular diseases (e.g. myositis or tendovaginitis); • endocrinological diseases (e.g. obesity [BMI >30], insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus type II); • acute injuries or surgery (< 6 months); • consumption of illegal drugs or alcohol abuse; • uncorrected visual or hearing impairment; • colour blindness/red-green weakness; • pregnancy; • the following additional exclusion criteria apply to MRI: Metal implants (e.g. pacemakers, brain stimulators, metal prostheses), claustrophobia, dentures, piercings, tattoos

The following secondary outcomes will be assessed prior to and after the six-month intervention period: Assessment of general participant characteristics : - Age - Gender - Body height - Body Mass - Handedness (via Edinburgh Handedness Inviatory [EHI]) - Nutrition (via Food-Frequency-Questionnaire [FFQ]) - Level of physical activity (via German Physical Activity Questionnaire 50+ [GPAQ 50+]) - Medication (via questionnaire) - Fear of falling (via questionnaire [FEF]) - Apolipoprotein 4 (ApoE4) - Status Fitness assessment: - Motor fitness -- Balance tests (via GGT-Test and Balance-Master) -- Fine motor skills (via Purdue-Pegboard test) -- Gait analysis with and without a secondary task (via inertial sensors) and 4-meter gait test -- Spatial orientation ability (via Triangle Completion Test and Rotational Memory Test) - Muscular Fitness -- maximum isometric grip force (via hand dynamometer and Southampton protocol) -- Tensiomyography (TMG) of different muscle groups - Cardiorespiratory fitness -- Spiroergometry Registration of neurocognitive changes: - socio-emotional level -- health-related quality of life (via questionnaire [SF-36]) -- Sleep quality (via Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index [PSQI]) -- Depression severity (via Geriatric Depression Scale [GDS]) -- Sport- and movement-related self-concordance (via questionnaire [SSK]) - structural level -- voxel-based morphometry [VBM] -- diffusion-weighted imaging [DTI] - functional level -- Recording of neurophysiological signals (via functional near-infaro spectroscopy [fNIRS], electroencephalography [EEG] and heart rate variability [HRV]) in standardized cognitive tests (Stroop test, N-back test, word fluency test) - molecular and cellular level -- Analysis of different blood markers (e.g. brain-derived neurotrophic factor [BDNF], Cathepsin B [CTSB], Agrin [CAF])
