Group 1: After a first epileptic seizure participants will be longterm-followed up and interviewed and examined on a regular basis (6 months resp. 12 months intervals). Interviews comprise epileptolog

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: People with a first diagnosed epileptic seizure within the last three months (excluding former febrile seizures) who agree to participate in the study according to written informed consent, who are at least 14 yo and whose Primary residence is within Berlin/Brandenburg

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.) psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (additional or exclusive) 2.) cognitive impairment as well as severe organic disease, which compromise participation in the study 3.) relevant language barrier

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Occurrence of recurrent epileptic seizures, development of pharmacoresistence in case of antiseizure-medication, death/mortality riskwithin 5 yrs after the first epileptic seizure. Identification of prognostic influencing variables.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Occurrence of recurrent epileptic seizures, development of pharmacoresistence in case of antiseizure-medication, death/mortality risk in longterm-follow-up (>10 yrs) after the first epileptic seizure. Identification of prognostic influencing variables.
