Interventions

Group 1: Patients undergoing any surgery during the governmentally regulated restriction policy on health-care centers in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and within 3 months after governmental annulmen

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients undergoing any surgery during the governmentally regulated restriction policy on health-care centers in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and within 3 months after governmental annulment of the policy. Due to the time critical nature of the pandemic, study inclusion commenced in March before having received a definitive vote by the local ethics committee. This exception had been decided in agreement with those responsible in the ethics committee.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients admitted only for non-surgical health-care without any scheduled surgical procedure.

Measure	Time frame
Impact on perioperative management in the form of hospital stay for scheduled patients, reschedulings and cancellations and overall statistics on case load and surgeries during the ongoing restrictions on elective patient care due to the COVID-19 pandemic.	—

Secondary

Secondary analyses will encompass • changes in priority of scheduled surgeries • rates of minor out-patient procedures conducted in lieu of a cancelled or rescheduled surgery • complications and mortality occurring during the waiting period for rescheduled elective surgery • rates of necessary alterations to surgical strategy or surgeries rendered unfeasible due to progression of disease during the rescheduling, i.e. tumor growth beyond resectable margins, progressive gangrene due to continuing ischemia and therefore necessary amputation instead of revascularization, etc.	—
